Selection
Criteria for Football New Brunswick’s U18 Provincial Team Football Eligibility
for Selection To be
eligible for selection to the provincial team the player must be a member
of the PSO. Players cannot
turn 18 and must reach a minimum of 16 years of age in the calendar year
of the event. For 2011 this
would require the players to be born in 1994 or 1995.
Selection
Process and Criteria The
provincial team will be selected by the provincial team coaches
individually by position and as a group as a result of observed play and
behaviour. (Including video) Input
may be sought from the pyramid level team coaches.
In all cases the needs of the provincial team will be paramount.
To be
eligible for selection athletes are required to attend at least 90% of all
U18 Football NB events including scheduled practices and meetings.
Players must participate in and complete the Canadian Centre for
Ethics in Sport Drug program. Players must demonstrate a positive
attitude, willingness to be a team player and commitment to becoming an
exceptional football player. Positional
Criteria Has a
detailed knowledge of the Provincial Offensive or Defensive system. Demonstrate
superior athletic skills and football skills as compared to his peer group
vying for the same position and / or has a secondary positional skill
required by the team. Positional
coaches will develop a depth chart for each position. Appeal
Policy Athletes who are not selected to the provincial team may appeal. The first level of appeal will be to the Provincial team Head Coach, This appeal must be in writing (via email is acceptable) and be filed within 3 calendar days of the announcement of the team roster. If an athlete is not satisfied with this decision they may appeal in writing (via email is acceptable) to the Appeal Committee made up of the President of FNB, Technical Director, and the Chairman of the Tackle committee. This appeal must be filed within 3 calendar days of the head coach’s decision of the first level appeal. The Appeals Committee response shall be the final level of appeal available to the athlete. The athlete will receive his response within 72 hrs of it being received. |
